Mata Hari Portrait Restoration | NFT-Collections
Restored and colourised photograph of the controversial antiHeroe, celebrity artist, femme fatale, branded as counterespionage by Holland, Germany and France and shot in a firing squad in 1917, in the middle of the First World War. Time when spies did not wear tuxedos.
Margaretha Geertruida Zelle (1876-1917) of Dutch origin, was famous for her exotic dances, with the name of Mata Hari, Indian and Malay costumes, imposed a whole fashion and covered herself with fame and fortune, same won as she lost untimely, ending up under pressure to spy on friends and foes at a crossroads that would cause her to lose her life.
She remains her name, however, in history, as one of the persons who knew how to make her way despite adversity, and so she did everything first for personal success, then for her fraternal love.
